Carisoprodol is available as a generic medication as well as under the brand name Soma. It is a muscle relaxant that helps in the blocking of pain signals between the nerves and the brain. Carisoprodol can also be used to treat skeletal muscle conditions such as pain or injury in conjunction with rest and physical therapy.
This drug should only be used for short-term use because there is no evidence that it is effective in the long term. Furthermore, most skeletal injuries are only temporary.
